Another day, another dent in the reality of the PGA thanks to Rory McIlroy changing his stance on LIV Golf and now criticizes the PGA Tour, acknowledging the flaws in the tour and expressing support for LIV's team-focused events. He softened his previously hardline stance against LIV and proposed that a shorter schedule in the fall could be more appealing. However, it's important to note that his stance may continue to evolve as the situation develops.

Meanwhile, as expected, Scottie Scheffler has won the PGA Tour Player of the Year award for the second consecutive year. You’ll recall he won three tournaments in 2023, including the WM Phoenix Open and The Players Championship. Scheffler received 38% of the vote for the Jack Nicklaus Award. He is the first player since Tiger Woods in 2007 to win back-to-back Player of the Year honors.

The Scheffler show continues this week as Scheffler is ranked first in this week's SI Golf Power Rankings for the tournament at Kapalua's Plantation Course.
